MathMagic Personal Edition is a stand-alone equation editor for editing any mathematical expressions and symbols with easy-to-use graphical interface and various powerful features.


* What's New (v4.13), May 18, 2009
  • Changed: Image format notice is not displayed when draging a selection from/to Clip window.

  • Fixed: Some MathML conversion fixed.
  • Fixed: Superscript next to a template(such as fence) sometimes positioned on a wrong place vertically when the Automatic option is selected from Format - Script alignment dialog and the script height is higher than the template.

  • Added: MathML, AMS LaTeX, LaTeX, Wiki equation are supported for both Copy/Paste and Import/Export.
  • Added: MathType(tm) 5 and 6 equations can be pasted or opened.
  • Added: Blackboard Bold, Calligraphic, and Fraktur styles supported from the Symbol palette and Style -> More TeX Styles sub menu. Default font "MMa Fermat" for 'Blackboard Bold', "MMa Pascal" for 'Calligraphic', "MMa Fraktur" for 'Fraktur' should be installed to display those symbols correctly. Future version will allow user to set these fonts.
  • Added: More file extensions are recognized and handled better.
  • Added: New revised OpenType MMa~ fonts are included.

  • Changed: Factory Setting values of Define Spacing, Define Style, Define Size, Define Shape panes changed to improve the equation quality.
  • Changed: Some items in a few Template and Symbol palettes re-arranged.
  • Changed: More sample equations included.

  • Fixed: Double-clicking on MathMagic equation in MS Word document could not open MathMagic in some cases or when MathType is installed.
  • Fixed: Magic control key mapping corrected for some palettes.
  • Fixed: Many other minor issues fixed, some User Interface retouched, and some messages refined.
  • Fixed: Percent unit in Define Size had incorrect conversion when the unit of Full Size was not the Point unit.

  • Added: 'Symbol' font and other Greek fonts(non-MMGreek keymapped) are now supported in L.C. Greek and U.C. Greek styles.

  • Fixed: Clip window was not displayed while launching if it was not previously saved in a larger size enough.

* System Requirements
  • Pentium or faster
  • Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, NT, Vista
  • About 15MB of hard disk space for complete installation

* Installation
  • If installing on Windows XP or earlier,
    • Download the latest Installer from download page
    • Double click on the installer icon to proceed the installation
    • Launch MathMagic application from Windows menu or from the following location:
      \Program Files\MathMagic Personal Edition\
  • If installing on Windows Vista,
    • Download the latest Installer from download page
    • Right-click on the installer application, and select 'Properties".
    • Select "Windows XP" compatibility mode, and turn on "Run as an Administrator" privilege.
      (This is to make the installer install MathMagic OpenType fonts correctly. Otherwise, some OpenType fonts may not be installed automatically even if they can be installed manually.)
    • Then, double click on the installer icon to proceed the installation.
    • After installation, select MathMagic application from the following location:
      \Program Files\MathMagic Personal Edition\
    • Right-click on it, select 'Properties".
    • Select "Windows XP" compatibility mode, and turn on "Run as an Administrator" privilege.
      (This is to make MathMagic read/write Registry correctly. Otherwise, Registry error message might be displayed.)
    • Then, launch MathMagic application.
UnInstall will help you remove most of the installed files. But in some cases the installed files may not be removed if used by other application or system.
