MathMagic Personal Edition is a stand-alone equation editor for editing any mathematical expressions and symbols with easy-to-use graphical interface and various powerful features.





* What's New (v7.44) - June 10, 2013
  • Added: MathMagic application and its installer application are now signed for the compatibility with Windows User Access Control security feature.
  • Fixed: EPS or PDF saving took very long time if ttc fonts installed. Now, ttc fonts are ignored.
  • Fixed: Menu key followed by a Magic key inserted the shortcut key itself.

* What's New (v7.43) - April 12, 2013
  • Changed: Arrow head is filled in OLE equation object for the WYSIWYG result, instead of line drawing.
  • Changed: MathMagic installer now sets the Compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 or SP3 when installing for an improved stability on Windows Vista, 7 and 8.

  • Fixed: Double arrows now have the same line thickness in the editor for both upper and lower lines all the time.
  • Fixed: Copy As Bitmap based image shows a better result in some applications.

* What's New (v7.42) - March 25, 2013
  • Added: User Data Folder is now saved in My Documents folder under the current User's Documents folder to help MathMagic work better on Windows 7 and Windows 8 without the Admin privilege.
  • Added: Two more Sigma symbols added to Define Shape dialog -> Sum symbol shape.(Classic shape and Eastern Thin shape)
  • Added: Transparent PNG format is supported with an option to set the background color to White in the File - Import/Export Options dialog.
  • Added: Anti-aliasing for text can be turned on or off from the Preferences dialog.

  • Changed: Personal Edition has the EPS format removed from the Save As options and Batch convert options although Personal Edition still can open EPS .
  • Changed: The default image size rate is set to 200% for some versions of MathMagic in the File -> Import/Export Options -> Image size for Export and Save As field.
  • Changed: Increased the Maximum Nudge distance.
  • Changed: The gap between Frame templates is removed now so frames can be connected to the next.
  • Fixed: User-defined EPS baseline shift value was entered incorrectly in EPS file.

* What's New (v7.4) - February 1, 2013
  • Added: Two shortcut keys added for LaTeX and other equation editor users: '^' key makes a superscript box and '_' key (underscore) makes a subscript box.
  • Added: "Change Integral Height" command added to Format menu to let user change the height of Integral symbol to Variable Height or Fixed Height without re-entering it.
  • Added: "Change Limit Position" commands added to Format menu.
  • Added: "Alignment Options" submenu with several menu items added to right-button clicked Contextual menu for easier applying.

* What's New (v7.31) - January 30, 2013
  • Added: "Shift the Baseline of EPS equation" field added in the Define Spacing dialog - Export Margin pane. (Pro Edition only)
  • Added: Default Font Size info added in the EPS file header.
  • Added: '\to' handled as '\rightarrow' when reading LaTeX.
  • Added: '\cbrt' for cube root and '\qdrt' for quad root expressions are recognized when reading LaTeX.

  • Changed: Some Define spacing preview images changed for a better description.
  • Fixed: URL now opens the default web browser instead of Internet Explorer.

* What's New (v7.3) - January 7, 2013
  • Added: Reversed Radical Symbol added to the Root template palette for Middle East right-to-left writing style.
  • Added: Color can be applied to Matrix lines, with the ability to support a separate color for each line by Alt-clicking on a line.
  • Added: Show/Hide Cursor option added to View menu.

  • Fixed: Fixed: '=' operator was named with 'equals' string in LaTeX output.

  • Pentium or faster
  • Windows XP or newer including Vista, 7 and 8
  • About 30MB of hard disk space for complete installation

* Installation
  • If installing on Windows XP,
    • Download the latest Installer from download page
    • Double click on the installer icon to proceed the installation
    • Launch MathMagic application from Windows menu or from the following location:
      \Program Files\MathMagic Personal Edition\MathMagic Personal 7.x.exe
  • If installing on Windows Vista or newer,
    • Download the latest Installer from download page
    • Right-click on the installer application, and select 'Properties".
    • Double click on the installer icon to proceed the installation.
    • After installation, select MathMagic application from the following location:
      \Program Files\MathMagic Personal Edition\MathMagic Personal 7.x.exe
    • Right-click on it, select 'Properties".
    • Select "Windows XP SP3" compatibility mode, and turn on "Run as an Administrator" privilege.
      (This is to make MathMagic read/write Registry correctly. Otherwise, Registry error message might be displayed.)
    • Then, launch MathMagic Personal application.
Uninstall MathMagic Personal utility will help you remove most of the installed files. But in some cases some installed files may not be removed if used by other application or system.
