MathMagic Lite is a FREE equation editor.
It is a stand-alone application for editing any mathematical expressions and symbols with easy-to-use graphical interface and various powerful features.
MathMagic Lite offers various symbols and templates for high school math and post-secondary math.
MathMagic Lite Edition works well with most word processors like iWork Pages, presentation software like Keynote or PowerPoint, iBooks Author, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and more, via Copy and Paste, Drag and Drop, or Exporting in PDF, PNG, PICT.

* What's New (v8.2) - Dec. 5, 2012
  • Added: Mac OS X's new Gatekeeper security savvy.
  • Added: Two new frequently used Root templates added to the Root template palette.

  • Changed: Some more fields in the Define Spacing dialog allow negative value.

  • Fixed: Some symbol names for Speech revised.
  • Fixed: A few ununsed menu items disabled.

  • v8.2 now supports Mac OS X 10.6 or newer only. (10.5 is no more supported)
* What's New (v8.1) - Aug. 9, 2012
  • Added: Pica unit is supported in the Full size field of Define Size dialog. Can be entered in a standard Pica format(such as 1p2) for a regular Pica value, or in a Real number format(such as, 1.123) for a more fine control.

  • Changed: Imported LaTeX and MathML equations now use the default StyleSet setting, instead of its own predefined StyleSet.
  • Changed: Export dialogs now do not add the previous file extension repeatedly.
  • Changed: The default Size unit is not changed even if user specify a different size and unit from Other Size... dialog temporarily.
  • Changed: Old format warning message is not displayed anymore for old version clips.

  • Fixed: Cmd-K, followed by a number (0 ~ 9) now enters a space width correctly. '0' for 0 pt space, '1' for 1 pt space, ..., '4' for 4 pt space, '5' for 0.5 pt space, '6' for 1/3 EM space, '7' for 1/2 EM space, '8' for EM space, '9' for FULL space.
  • Fixed: Dragging a Wiki equation into MathMagic window did not work in some cases.
  • Fixed: Some Bold face in LaTeX expression was not maintained when importing.
  • Fixed: Preferences menu item was disabled.

  • Intel Macintosh
  • Mac OS X 10.5 or later (future Mac App store version may not support 10.5)
  • About 20 MB of hard disk space for a complete installation
  • You can run MathMagic under Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion by one of the following options:
    • Right-click or Control-click MathMagic application and select Open from the contexutal menu. (Recommeded) Or,
    • Open System Preferences from Apple menu, click "Security & Privacy", select the General tab, and then select 'Anywhere' for "Allow applications downloaded from:".

One same regular installer and its installed application works as a trial mode if you do not enter a valid serial number.
  • MathMagic Lite is Free so no Trial version availabe for MathMagic Lite.
